Severe debt problems'>debt problems are forcing parents to work, a new study has found.

Research from Scottish Widows found that more than 44 per cent of UK households rely on more than one salary to cover the cost of living.

Unsurprisingly, parents are the worst affected by debt, with 60 per cent of households with dependent children relying on the income of two or more adults.

On average, a family with kids now has almost £92,000 in outstanding mortgage debt.

This has increased by over £3,000 over the last year as budgets have got tighter and tighter.
