High bills could cause debt problems

Energy companies are increasing their profits as the cost of bills continues to rise.

This is the view of Consumer Focus. Commenting on recent figures from the energy watchdog Ofgem, the group said that suppliers should cut prices now to give consumers a fair deal.

Ofgem's findings this week revealed that, while wholesale energy prices are dropping dramatically, this is not being passed on to consumers.

It looks as if this Christmas will be an expensive one for families, and their money worries will not be helped by the news that bills are likely to continue increasing.
