Consumer champion Which? has launched a campaign called 'Britain needs better banks', after their latest research revealed that almost two thirds of people are angry with banks for causing the financial crisis and believe the government should leave them to go bust rather than bailing them out in the future.

It comes as trade union Unite claim that banks have learned nothing from the crisis and are setting unachievable sales targets for their staff, forcing staff to sell products to people that they neither need nor can afford.

The union say they're especially concerned with Lloyds bank, Unite national officer, Rob Macgregor said, 'In this bank, which is part owned by the taxpayer, staff should be providing an excellent service to customers and being paid fairly for doing so.'

Debt management company EuroDebt say, "It looks like the age of 'free banking' is coming to an end and consumers need to vote with their feet when selecting a suitable provider based upon how they manage their account.

EuroDebt has established a pre-paid current account that is eligible to all UK residents and is not subject to credit checks. There is only a small monthly fee of £12.50 and no charges for failed direct debits."
