It is reported that people are trying to buy into the celebrity lifestyle of swanky nightclubs with £5,000 bar bills and plunging themselves into penury as a result. They are trying to live the same lifestyle as the footballers, singers and soap stars that are pictured stumbling out of "exclusive" clubs and into waiting taxis, label-clad and dripping with jewellery, illuminated by popping flashbulbs. The average amount spent on a table in a VIP section of a club in London is £5,000 per night and it can go as high as £11,000.
People visit London's West End to feel more glamorous and to do something different. Some mistakenly believe that by visiting a venue popular with celebrities it will help launch their own careers in modeling, singing or acting. This causes problems to the average earner as celebrities often go to the VIP section of a Club and if the clubber is not part of their entourage they will have to spend considerable amounts of money for the privilege of entering the world of the rich and famous. Buying a bottle of champagne generally ensures entry into the VIP section and the spending can soon mount into thousands of pounds.
Figures released as long ago as 2005 showed that an increasing number of under-25s were seeking bankruptcy as they struggled to cope with their debts with the British Lifestyles 2007 report revealing that the British public is spending more and more money on leisure pursuits. Chasing a dream is one of the contributory factors as people try to escape from the normal day to day routines.
