Credit card lifestyle could be compromised
12/11/2009
Almost four in ten people in the UK will not apply for a credit card because they are worried about damaging their credit score.
This is according to research by Confused.com, which also found that people aged between 22 and 30 are the most concerned about their credit rating, as fears over debt increase.
Despite the findings, a further 12 per cent admitted that their credit score had actually improved over the last year.
Head of credit cards at Confused.com Joanne Garcia suggested credit card lifestyle is being compromised by tightening criteria and the rejection of "many" applications.
"People should check their credit file as they need to make sure all the information is correct," she urged.
"It's really worrying that three out of four people have not checked over the last 12 months."
Credit card ratings can be improved by registering on the electoral vote and ensuring that any County Court Judgements are paid off in full.
Separate research from Confused.com recently revealed that 19 per cent of Brits are planning on visiting an overseas Christmas market this year.
