Financial Planning Week 2009 gauges attitudes to debt
19/08/2009
Consumers' personal finances could improve as a result of 2009's Financial Planning Week, it has been suggested.
The events, organised by the Institute of Financial Planning (IFP), will centre around a new website, financialplanningweek.org.uk.
Members of the public using the site will be able to download a special DIY Guide to Financial Planning written by a top professional.
This guidance could in turn give readers tips and hints on taking a more sustainable attitude towards money matters.
The events, which also include special online interactive polls and a Facebook group, come as Brits' personal finances come under near-unprecedented strain.
Credit crunch conditions have made it harder to get a cheap mortgage, driving debt levels and home repossessions up.
Meanwhile, unemployment has soared to a 14-year high as a result of the recession.
IFP said: "These interactive features [included in Financial Planning Week] will provide the profession ... with useful insight into how consumers are approaching their financial plans and their attitudes to saving [and] debt ... particularly in these challenging economic conditions."
Financial Planning Week takes place on September 7th-13th.
