Recession fears 'not affecting young'
10/08/2009
Young people are less likely to be worried about the effects of the recession than older Britons, it has been suggested.
Research commissioned by Friends Provident found that more than one-third of (38 per cent) of 18 to 25-year-olds are aware of the recession but are not "significantly" concerned about it.
In contrast, just 19 per cent of people aged between 51 and 55 feel this way, while 18 per cent of Britons of different ages believe life should go on as it did prior to the economic downturn.
Simon Clamp, UK managing director at Friends Provident, said in a statement: "Our research shows that there is hope for the future as young people equip themselves to cope financially and emotionally with the challenges our economy can bring.
"We are urging the rest of Britain to follow suit, to take control of their money and plan for the future now."
