Hotels cash in on £999 weddings
22/06/2009
A new "credit crunch wedding" has been launched by the Holiday Inn hotel chain.
The company is now offering a £999 event for hard-up customers.
Food drink and a DJ for the reception are all included, the BBC reports.
Speaking to the broadcaster, Wigan newlyweds Craig and Claire Heaton said that the low costs had made the package more attractive.
Claire commented: "It was still really good value and we had a great day. We feel much closer."
She added: "We have two children and have been putting off the big day for about 10 years because it's normally so expensive."
A landmark report released earlier this year by the Charities Aid Foundation showed that four in five Britons were reconsidering their personal finances due to the credit crisis.
The UK is currently in recession as a result of the crunch, with latest government figures showing the economy shrinking at its fastest rate for 30 years.
