Job security takes a knock, bank finds
04/08/2008
Britons are more concerned about losing their jobs than before, Lloyds TSB revealed today.
According to a new study conducted by the bank, one third of people feel "less secure" about their work than they did a year ago - while just ten per cent feel the other way.
Lloyds TSB also found that 62 per cent of people thought that job prospects in the UK were "worse", while just five per cent thought them "better".
Kevin Still, director of EuroDebt, commented: "This survey appears to confirm a general sense of sit tight and weather the storm, however, circumstances beyond the control of most employees can leave many with less than two months' financial reserves if main bread winner loses their job with only statutory compensation."
He added: "The rising number of business insolvencies must be a concern allied to major cut backs at leading financial institutions in recent months."
