Drivers 'waste £9.4bn by sticking with insurers'

Motorists are set to blow £141 each this year - or £9.4 billion in total - by failing to shop around for a new car insurance policy, a new study has claimed.
One in five drivers currently renew their insurance with their current provider automatically without checking the market for a better deal, moneysupermarket.com said.
Some 12 per cent of these drivers think they cannot find a lower price, while eight per cent said they cannot be bothered to see if they can save money.

Low pay rises 'reflect pressure on British companies'

Earlier this week, research from Incomes Data Services (IDS) indicated that average pay settlements for UK workers have reached their lowest level since 1994 at just 1.4 per cent.
According to one expert, the figure shows that despite recent signs of improvement in the economy, companies remain under intense pressure.
Of the 75 wage deals examined by IDS in May, June and July, around half were pay freezes.
