Customers left "disappointed" by small fuel price cuts

Price cuts levied by Britain's largest energy firms recently will lead to cost savings of around £41 a year, according to a financial website.
In a report released yesterday, uSwitch said that the 3.2 per cent reduction from the latest round of reductions is dwarfed by last year's overall 42 per cent increase to bills.
This means that just ten per cent of the rise has been wiped out so far in 2009.

Arrears levels soar among renters

More and more tenants are falling behind on their rents and putting their landlords under financial pressure as the recession grinds on.
A new report laid bare the extent of the problem yesterday, showing that a total of 37 per cent of landlords have renters currently in arrears - with 44 per cent having experienced the problem at some point over the last six months.
The survey, from the National Landlords Association (NLA), also showed that these rent problems were having a knock-on effect on landlords' mortgage repayments for their properties.
